The Solution Innovation District (SID), a flagship project of the Anambra State Government under the visionary leadership of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, was presented to a global audience of experts at the 42nd IASP World Conference in Beijing. This premier gathering of the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation featured leaders from the world’s most advanced tech hubs.
Ms. Chinwe Okoli, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Innovation and Business Incubation and the CEO of the Solution Innovation District, representing the State Government, took the stage at the prestigious event to detail Anambra’s transformative journey in building a future-ready innovation ecosystem through the SID, directly reflecting Governor Soludo's technology-driven agenda for a prosperous and digital Anambra.
Her presentation, titled “Bridging Continents Through Innovation”, emphasized the critical importance of cross-border partnerships in tackling Africa’s paradox of rapid digital growth alongside high youth unemployment. Before an audience of international innovation managers, she highlighted the urgent need for global collaboration, a core principle of the Soludo administration, to convert the continent’s demographic challenge into a dividend of opportunity.
“Innovation must be borderless. The challenges and opportunities of our time demand that we co-create solutions across continents. At the Solution Innovation District, we are executing Governor Soludo's vision to build bridges between Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East and the Americas so that talent, technology, and opportunities can flow without barriers,” Ms. Okoli stated during her address.
She showcased the State’s bold interventions, made possible by Governor Soludo's visionary policies that established the government-backed district for startups, R&D, and global partnerships. She highlighted initiatives from the plan to train 1 million youths in digital skills to securing international collaborations, positioning Anambra as a model for Africa’s innovation-driven future on a stage typically reserved for established global hubs.
Governor Soludo’s foresight was notably highlighted for making Anambra the first subnational government in Nigeria to fully invest in a dedicated innovation district, turning the historic Old Government House site into a 13.7-hectare innovation city that will be equipped with AI labs, robotics centers, research facilities etc.
Speaking at the 42nd IASP World Conference firmly cements Anambra’s place on the global innovation map under the current administration. With MoUs discussed on the sidelines to foster international cooperation, Ms. Okoli called on the global IASP network to explore partnerships with SID, describing collaboration as a “win-win for humanity.”
As the world looks to Africa as the next frontier of innovation, Anambra State’s presence at this elite forum demonstrates how Governor Soludo’s visionary leadership and bold investments are gaining international recognition and positioning the state as a serious player in the global technology landscape.
