As we wrap up the year, we have summarized our highlights for the year. Let's review our year.
Level Up Anambra Training: Empowering 20,000 Ndi Anambra on Digital Skills
On March 21, 2023, we launched the Anambra Digital Tribe, kicking off with the Level Up Anambra program. In partnership with Microsoft and the Wootlab Foundation, we successfully trained over 20,000 Ndi Anambra in basic digital skills, including digital marketing, graphic design, web design, and productivity tools. This flagship program empowered youth to enhance their businesses, streamline workflows, and boost personal development.
The Anambra Tech Drive: Advocacy/Awareness for Digital Skills
Additionally, we organized six series of Anambra Tech Drives to promote tech and innovation in Anambra State. This virtual initiative brought industry experts together to discuss the transformative power of technology and digital literacy, with a focus on driving innovation within the state. We also dedicated a section to support and empower women in navigating the tech industry.
Grand Opening of SID Take-Off Center (August 1, 2023)
In August, we proudly unveiled the SID Take-Off Center. Mr Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR unveiled this state-of-the-art hub designed to meet the evolving needs of innovative minds. The center offers various spaces and amenities, including Digital Lab, Robotics Lab, Co-working Spaces, multi-purpose Training Halls, Executive Co-working Space, and Conference Room. We are grateful to our amazing Governor for the opportunity he has provided for Ndi Anambra to innovate in readiness for what will become the Silicon Valley of Africa.
Teens Digital Bootcamp (August 2023)
We hosted a two-week revolutionary vacation program in August, empowering young minds aged 9 to 17 with essential digital skills. The program covered computer fundamentals, Microsoft Office Suite, graphic design, internet use and safety, and coding fundamentals, preparing the younger generation for the jobs of the future.
Anambra Innovation Ecosystem Engagement
Throughout the year, we actively engaged with the Academia, various innovation and ICT hubs within the state to foster collaboration and build a stronger tech ecosystem. Notable organizations we visited to deepen these efforts include LM Tech Hub in Awka, IG hub, EDUFUN Hub, the Onitsha Business School etc, exemplifying our commitment to creating a vibrant and collaborative environment for tech and innovation in Anambra.
Code Anambra Training
Building on our success in building the Anambra Digital Tribe, we launched the second phase-the Code Anambra program. This program is designed to train Ndi Anambra on core and advanced digital which include cybersecurity, digital marketing, UI/UX design, mobile app development, game development, web development (frontend & backend), cloud computing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, search engine optimization (SEO), blockchain technology, and Arduino programming/IoT etc. The first cohort aims to train 2,000 youths on the above skills and has a duration of four months.
Move for the Adoption of the Nigeria Startup Act in Anambra State
And to wrap it up, we organized events aimed at the adoption of the Nigeria Startup Act in Anambra State. The two-day event facilitated discussions on the intricacies involved, including an ecosystem stakeholder engagement validatory session held on December 11th-12th, 2023. The event was graced by the Deputy Governor of the state, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Commissioners, MDs, representatives of the academia, NASME, the NSA Secretariat team from Abuja, MDAs, hub founders, startups, the tech community, and partners.
